I went to the Clay Oven recently with a friend. We arrived there at around 2230 on a Friday, and asked if they had a table to which they replied 'yes'.This actually transpired, after we were in there and had now bought a couple of drinks, to 'come and wait'(we would have gone elsehwere if they had been too busy-we were understanding of the fact it was, after all, Friday night). After about 15 minutes I saw a couple of people leaving so I gently asked the manager if that was our table to which he said abruptly that other people(who I then realised had been waiting sometime also) were in front of us.
We were eventually sat down about 25 minutes after walking in. We had a 45 minute wait between starter and main course.
The food was quite a surprise: one of our dishes was a Biryani, which amounted to being served as tinned vegetables with gravy.
The service was abrupt and unpleasant. The whole experience was rounded off by being ignored by the manager as we walked passed him to leave(some restauraunts would bid you good bye, maybe with a smile also,at this stage).
I then realised he was, as he stood in the middle of the restauraunt, picking his nose.
When I moved to Ealing a few years ago, The Clay Oven was the talk of the town. My how they have changed.
Save your money-go elsewhere.
