The Riverside, St George's Wharf, Vauxhall, London

I recently visited The Duke on The Green which is a Young's pub/restaurant on New Kings Road and it was brilliant - see other review. SO I thought I'd get some mates together and try another Young's pub - big mistake.

I did a search and found The Riverside in Vauxhall, under the new St George's Wharf flats. The flats look amazing so I thought they would stick a decent bar underneath. The visit was a catalogue of errors from start to finish.

I booked for 4 in advance and recieved an email confirmation but wasn't on the list when I got there. We had to ask the waiter to bring us the menus. He brought over 4 menu sleaves and one of them didn't even have a menu in it. We then had to call him over again to take our order which took ages to come - and they weren't busy at all.

Two of the steaks came cooked wrong and the fish and chips left a lot to be desired! We then had to ask him to bring us the desert menus and he brought us 4 but three of them were different from each other and he had to check which one was the right one - comical!

Deserts were nothing special and for a fiver each I was expecting something special. Then we had to ask him to bring the bill and he sticks £13 service charge on.

I complained about the whole night and they knocked the two steaks and the service charge off the bill but still not recomended at all!

The Duke on The Green, Kings Road, Fulham, Parsons Green

The Duke on the Green is a Youngs pub/restaurant. I visited the other day for something to eat and was very very impressed. Situated very close to Parsons green tube right oposite the green its a great spot for a sunny day.

We eat in the restaurant but you can get the same menu in the bar area. Very good decor and the restaurant is a nice size. The service from start to finish was impeccable and so was the food. They have a varied menu, not too expensive but not cheap - about 10-15 quid for a main and a fiver for a desert. The quality of the food though is very high and the presentation is great.

definately worth a visit if you fancy a nice meal out that wont break the bank too much.

I've never been a big fan of these 'community' websites like myspace and WAYN etc. I always get bombarded with mails from them, it takes ages to set anything up and you need a degree in programming to get a Myspace page looking good. Facebook is different!

Its really easy to use and set up. You'll be amazed about how many people are on it at the moment - I've got back in touch with about 20 people from school and uni through it! Its really easy t upload pictures and you can tag your mates in them which is cool. It also gives you a summary page at the start which tells you what all your friends are upto!

Only downside is when anyone 'writes on your wall' - i.e. posts you a message, it sends you an email which is quite annoying, but worth it!

give it a go!

Hotel Linda Amsterdam

We stayed in hotel Linda in Amsterdam for 3 nights over the easter weekend. The hotel is well located near to the heinekin experience. its a short walk into the centre of town - dam square area.

I thought that the hotel was a bit over priced for what we got. £340 for 3 nights in a twin room with breakfast. the room was small with no waredrobe and no ensuite - bathroom and shower were shared accessed from the corridor. breakfast was fine - self service style but nothing to write home about. The stairs are ridiculously steep up to the rooms so no good if you've got heavy cases!

nothing major wrong with the place just a bit pricey for what you get. if it was 20 quid a night each I would be giving it a great review, but as it worked out around 60 I wouldn't recomend

Me and a mate went to 'The Dam' for easter weekend and it was all good.

We booked in advance s the flights only cost about 80 quid from Heathrow. The flight time is less than an hour so in no time we were there. We checked into Hotel Linda - see seperate review which wasn't too bad.

Great city with lots of things to do! I would definately recomend it as a city break destination if you've got an open mind. Its not as sleavy as people make out and surprisingly it wasn't over run with stag do's. Give it a go

The Fez Club Putney

I've visited The Fez club in Putney on a Friday and Saturday night over the last few weeks and both times it has proved to be a great night out. The club is located very close to the train station in Putney and entry is reasonably priced (6 quid before 11 on a Friday and 8 quid before 11 on a Saturday). If you drink in putney beforehand chances are you'll get a flyer with a quid off.

Door staff are very friendly and queues are small before 11. The decor is spot on although the club is quite small compared to most places in london. Drinks are quite expensive - 4 quid a bottle of larger and about 6.50 for a spirit and mixer cos you have to have doubles.

The dance floor is made up of squares which light up - sounds laim I know but you'll love it. Plus the guy to girl ratio is about 50:50 which is always hard to achieve in a club.

I wasn't keen on trying this place becuase Putney is a nightmare to get to central lon from once the tubes have stopped running but once I'd been once its worth the two buses home! Give it a go but drink in cheaper places in putney first to keep the cost down
