Review of: Beethoven's Copyist

This film appears to aspire to being another Amadeus, but fails in every respect. As a faux biography it is dull. As a story it feels contrived. Only as a parody does it succeed. Maybe it gets better in the second half, but I left the theater after the kitschy scene of the 9th's premiere. Go to see this movie if you want to see how a non-musician sees the process of composition and musical performance. See the movie, but don't listen to it unless you want to hear what deafness sounds like. Skip "Beethoven's Copyist" and watch the vastly superior "This is Spinal Tap" instead
