Based on the Patrick Suskind novel, this film is visually stunning, although the first scene might make you gag...

The plot is simple and easy to follow - it's your typical serial-killer-has-a-weird-obsession-and-is-compelled-to-kill-loads-of-people, but so sensitively done that you have a lot sympathy for Grenouille (the serial killer). The acting is excellent, especially from the actor playing Grenouille, and particularly because he has very few lines. The one exception to this is the bizarrely cast Dustin Hoffman who has a really dodgy Italian accent.

Overall it's a beautiful, captivating film that feels shorter than it's two and a half hours. The only improvement would have been a scratch 'n' sniff cinema ticket so you could smell what you're seeing on screen!
