/5 (minimum 1)
A film adaptation of the Dickens novel, starring Charlie Hunnam in the title role. Unfortunately, it's rubbish. Hunnam is bland and tedious, and his accent keeps slipping all over the place. He also falls prey to the "we do not use contractions" style of movie-speak (yes, I know this isn't likely to be entirely his fault) — a small point, perhaps, but a distracting one. Christopher Plummer as Ralph Nickleby is rather gorgeous but his character development makes no sense at all.
I didn't bother watching to the end, since I was already quite fed up of it. It might have got better in the last 20 minutes, but I doubt it.
