by AdrianStevenson on 23 Oct 2007Having visited East Z East several times since my original review I generally still think the food is of a high standard. I do have a major reservation that the music does tend to be too loud for this type place and has made me reluctant to go back. On both previous occasions it's been too load to talk.

by cohenra on 03 Apr 2008Fabulous decor - restaurant is very upper class and trendy with a spacious layout. Unfortuanatley at times the layout is too spacious as the table was too large for four. I felt at times it was difficulut to have a conversation with the person opposite. Staff are attentive and at times overly - very willing to please but bordering 'in your face'. We had a 2 course meal - starters were excellent. I had the the chicken puri - it was cooked to perfection and a good size. The main course was average - I had a chicken and prawn dish - which I asked for it to be hot. The heat was overpowering and the dish lacked flavour and was very oily. My friends dishes although not as hot, had little flavour. The menu although expansive had limitations in terms of ingredients as most of the specials read the same except for the variation of meat/fish etc. Meal was an average price. Overall I was a little disappointed as I had been adviced to go here by a number of friends.

by infokus on 06 Jul 2008Dissapointed, after reading numerous reviews we booked for a friends birthday. We arrived earlier than our 8:30 booking, yet it was 45 minutes before we were seated. No appology, I persisted in getting a bottle of wine in compensation. The mangement eventually relented and when we asked for red we were given white and when corrected were then offered rose? Yes we did get red after much deliberation. These are the problems you have on your opening night not after years of trading. The food was good, but nothing special. I was recently in a Terriyaki bar in Cape Town and that was a cullianary experience. East Restaurant service was abismal, food ordinary the only thing extraordinary was the length of time it took to get seated. Will I return, not even if it would bring on world peace.

by fak33 on 28 Aug 2008BAD EXPERIENCE _ NEVER AGAIN
They park your car in public car park, mine came back with both the passenger side doors scraped. They claimed that it must have been caused by someone in the carpark although it was apparent that it had been caused by a bollard. Refused to accept that they were at fault. so a had a poor insurance premium. NEVER AGAIN
