by tom on 17 Aug 2007Opodo has always done me pretty well for booking flights; the interface and market coverage are both good enough to get the job done. However, having just booked a flight on the site and been charged over £12 to pay by credit card (on top of the £5 booking fee) I'm seriously unimpressed. I don't see any way that this figure can be justified, and hope that the Office of Fair Trading act soon to stop this kind of practice. I thought EasyJet and Ryanair were taking the piss charging £2 per passenger per segment, but Opodo have really excelled themselves. Next time I'll make the effort to book directly with the airline, or (shock horror) use a travel agent.

by deb on 31 Oct 2008Used Opodo to book a hotel in New York in September. Online it clearly stated that the price quoted included local taxes and service charges.
The printout stated; 'Amount to pay hotel GBP 1,245.96 Please note that you will be charged on checkout for any incidental charges incurred during your stay.'
When we got to the hotel the rate was much higher than quoted. I e-mailed, my son phoned. Nothing was done! I finished paying £230 extra and despite many e-mails + phone calls they have refused to give a refund, just advised me to read the small print!
