I bought this thinking it might be a nice change from 'proper' mince. I'm not a veggie but do often like veggie food. How wrong I was, it wasn't that it was tasteless, that would've been better than what it did taste like - quite cardboardy and had a really odd texture. The lasagne I made with it went in the bin after my first plateful, so from now on it'll either be real mince or proper vegetables, not substitutes!

I can't believe I have just read a negative review about Realeat Vegemince. As a vegan it's a godsend to me and definitely beats Quorn mince or Tesco's own make. The trick is in adding extra water as it does soak up a lot of fluid. My husband is a meat eater through and through and even he enjoys it, in fact he prefers it to the real thing.

What has happened to Realeat veggie mince! I have used this product for many years and it was always absolutly delicious, so when my supermarket seemed to stop selling it I was very disappointed. Then to my delight it appeared in the freezers again. I have bought 2 bags since and both do not taste anything like it used to. Even loaded with garlic that old taste is not there, the texture and colour has also changed. So my tea also went in the bin. Was it my imagination or did it used to be mushroom based not soya.
