I ended up in the Si zhu xiang tea shop in Beijing thinking that tea is something you might want to experience in Beijing. I ended up with a lot less money. The tea was OK, but not more than that, and upon request, I got a menu, and decided to attend a "tea ceremony". The menu was hardly comprehensible, however, and what I thought was the price for the whole thing was the price for each tiny cup. That amounted to 2880 Yuan, or around 260 € or 410 USD.

I'm usually a pretty critical tourist, but the credibility of the place was increased when I said that I carried very little cash, and they responded that they accepted several credit cards, also VISA, and they used electronic terminals.

There are apparently many such scams going around Beijing these days, so beware and study the menu very carefully and leave unless you understand it.
