The Swan (as it's commonly known) is one of the nicer pubs within the Milton Keynes boundary, being situation in the old village (more a large hamlet really) of Woughton on the Green. It's got log fires, a crooked roof, and low ceilings, which all give it a cosy feeling on a winter evening. Come summer time there are plenty of tables outside in a pleasant garden. Given the other options nearby it's a good choice, but has plenty of shortcomings. The pub is heavily geared towards food, which is generally quite good, and this is responsible for a stupidly restrictive policy about where you can sit during busy periods. In practice you may find more than half the pub reserved for diners, making it hard to get a table if you just want a drink. There are a few decent ales on tap, including Deuchars IPA and Old Speckled Hen, which generally seem well kept. Anywhere else I'd give this pub a rating of 3, but in MK the lack of decent choice makes this a 4.

I love this old pub. It serves by far the best pub food in the area - there's a wide selection available, although it is fairly pricey. Best book for evening meals at busy times of the year though.

My partner and I went to The Swan in Woughton on the Green to have a meal to see the new decor and sample their food. We got ourselves a drink first and went to sit at the only available table to have our drinks before ordering some food. Within 1 minute of sitting down a man (thought to be the manager) curtly asked us to leave the table as another couple wanted to sit their and dine. The man never asked us whether we were going to eat neither was there a reserved sign on the table. We then had to stand at the bar to finish our drinks before leaving due to being made to feel unwelcome. We had regularly been to this pub during the summer months and enjoyed the atmosphere, however, we do not intend to go again after being spoken to so rudely.

We went to the Ye Olde Swan for my birthday - 4 adults and 2 children - and we had a very pleasant experience. We were greeted and seated well and the children were given a menu that had colouring and activities to do on it and 4 crayons so that kept them occupied whilst the food was prepared. The menu was interesting and varied and when the food was served it was presented well, all served at the same time and it was delicious. The serving staff were very polite and friendly. The atmosphere was great too. Would highly recommend it to anyone.

I go to Ye Olde Swan as often as possible. Had Christmas Day lunch there. It was really good, the staff were friendly (as always) and did a really good job. If I am going on for the evening afterwards(The Stables theatre is close)I book and let the staff know and they always make sure we're finished in plenty of time. Can't rate this pub/restaurant highly enough.

We also had our 2008 Xmas lunch at Ye Olde Swan and once again it was fantastic. Great food, responsible prices (Just need to sort out a system for multiple pre ordered orders as this was a bit of a mix up)
Overall, lovely location, beautiful pub, great food and service.

All change at the Swan and not for the better.

Small menu with nothing for the kids but smaller dishes, the cost even for my fat wallet is too high.

This is no longer a pub and is trying to be an upmarket restaurant but fails miserably.

Two small steaks and two pints around £40, they were dry and not succulent and the chips were soggy and not crisp.

All lagers strong and costing upwards of £3.50 a pint.

If you want food cooked better and at reasonable prices look around there are plenty out there that will knock this mishap into a cocked hat.

I used to eat in there with my kids once a week, no more as the standard has gotten lower but more expensive.

And to the manager thank you for not taking the time to listen to my views.

I been in this pub for many years and many ocasions, but setenlly who said that there is no kid menu is layer because I hate kids (and I think they don't belong to the restaurant industry and especially when parents cant control them) they still reminde kids menu to my colegues or tables around (what not really make me happy) anyway with this menu I found another place where to dine except to strada or another gastro pubs or how they call each self and I have large spektrum meal to choise...... so what i wanna say if someone miss fish an cips or burger (God know what is coock from) then got to MCdonalds or some chines take away for twoo pound

just came back from the swan. the place has just been done up. it looked great with real fires blazing. great menu, wild rabbit, veal great 10oz steak. four of us shared butchers block and a seafood platter to start. they were amazing.big sirloin with real fat chips which you dont often see these days. my partner had home smoked organic salmon with clams. i tried to taste some but with no joy.excellent meal. our friends from oxford couldnt believe the quality as they always eating out in top places. fantastic desserts. i had the baked alaska.if they can keep it up they would be even busier than usual. staff were so friendly.
the best thing was when we walked in we didnt have push pass the locals who sometimes give you a funny look. hopefully they realize this is a top food place and not just an average booser.

We have just returned from our extra special birthday treat from the Swan, and i have just ate 2 slices of toast! We had the seafood platter for our shared starter, horrendous, frozen pate and just defrosted watered down prawns, complained to waitress, but thought we were just unlucky and the mains were going to be fab, how wrong we were, this time i really complained about my chicken, cous cous and pineapple, i love chicken, but this was in-edible, returned un eaten and bill was credited, partner had fish pie, obviously pre-prepared and warmed later, charging big bucks for rubbish food - disappointing, been going here for years for special venue, will not be returning, ignore all the good reports, can only assume written by the staff, who by the way are very nice - Gutted
